Marrakech to Zagora : 2 Days Desert Trip camel trekking

DAY1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate Zagora desert camel trekking

After the breakfest departure from Marrakech around 8:00 morning , crossig the High Atlas mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass towards Ait Benhaddou village, the fortified ksar with it’s beautiful Kasbahs, Ait Benhaddou has served as a natural decoration for many movies producers since 1960’s. Once you get to Ait Benhaddou village you take a walk to go on the top of the hill to dominate the whole village. Afterwards, you will head to Ouarzazate for lunch next to the famous Kasbah of Taourirt which presents the historical and cultural interest of Ouarzazate, You will continue through the lunar landscapes and the Pre-Sahara routes until you get to Zagora which is a small town, the native region of Saadian dynasty (Saadian tombs in Marrakech) who used to rule Morocco in the XVII century. 18 km further more you will arrive to Tamgroute, a small village where most of locals are pottery handicrafts, Tamgroute is also well know by it’s old Coranic school and library collecting the old books. The next five kilometres will let you see the first sand dunes of Zagora called Tinfou dunes and give you a taste of Sahara desert dunes, ride the camels at the sunset and get to a camp located in a Oasis ,overnight in nomad tents.

DAY2: Zagora – Marrakech

After seeing the sunrise we go back on camels ,after the breakfast and take shower , then start our journey backing to Marrakech …we arrive a ouarzazate in afternoon, after visiting ,we well contunie to Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech Benhaddou Ouarzazate Todra Gorge Merzouga Desert

Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi -n-Tichka – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert.

We will pick up you from your (hotel/riad / bus station / Airport )then we will start our journey from Marrakech to Dades Gorges across the Tizi-n-Tichka Atlas pass, with far-reaching views across the mountains, to the traditional High Atlas Berber villages then we continue to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, you will have lunch at Ait benhaddou or ouarzazate where you’ll visit Kasbah Taourirt and the atlas studios then we continue to Dades gorges though roses and Boumalne dades, we’ll pass through Todra Gorges ,Tinghir , Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet, and then we continue to a Hotel in Merzouga, after relaxing few minuts you will take some of you luggage in small bag (the necessary for the night in desert) and leave the other luggage in the hotel, then we will ride the camels on an adventure crossing the erg chebbi sand dunes, this is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise. when we reach the camp we will leave the camels and we walk to the highest sand dunes for sandboarding and to watch the sunset, we will spend the night in a camp (Berber nomad tents) with drums music in the middle of the Sahara.

Day 2: Quads biking back to Merzouga – Atlas mountains – Back to Marrakech

We will wake up you early morning to watch the sunrise in dunes, then you ride the quads back to Merzouga , after the breakfast and take shower in the Hotel, we start our journey backing to Marrakech trough different areas and different Berber villages ( Alnif , Tazarine , N’kob ) until Ouarzazate were we will use the same road back to Marrakech, we arrive in evening/night

3 Days Desert Trip Marrakech to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi

Day 01: Marrakesh/Ait Benhaddou/Gorg Dades.

We will welcome you at Marrakesh airport or in your hotel, in order to drive to Ouarzazate, a former caravan town on the silk and salt route in the eastern foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Ouarzazate is known as the Gateway to the Sahara. First of all, we will travel through the dramatic landscape of the High Atlas Mountains passing through the berber town of Taddert and over the 2260 meters high Tizi-in-Tichka pass. We will stop at the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, 30 kilometers from Ouarzazate. The kasbah is one of the most intriguing red earth castles lining the ancient road of the Kasbahs, and is a UNESCO world heritage site. Lunch by the Kasbah and continue on our way to Dades Gorge via Ouarzazate. “the Hollywood of Africa”. On, through the “Road of the thousand Kasbahs”- the fascinating “sand castles”.we will continue in our journey to stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “the rose’s city” known for roses and its annual festival during the roses harvest in May, and then continue to our hotel in the heart of the Dades Gorge.

Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

After breakfast in the hotel, drive back through the valley to see the amazing rock formation “the monkey toes”, and the still-standing 19th century Kasbah of Ait Yul. Leave the Dades valley towards Tinrghir and the Todra valley. Watch the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Get to the Gorge and walk under the 300m high red cliff, where many Rock-climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport. Continue our trip to Erfoud and Rissani where we have lunch; afterwards, we leave for the village of Merzouga , where your camel will be awaiting you. before you mount your camel, guided by an experienced Camel man, to explore within the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. Here you will spend your night under the stars, or if you prefer, in a traditional Berber nomad tent.

Day 3: Merzouga-Marrakech.

After breakfast ,we will leave for Rissani – once Sijilmassa – is the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling family. With most of the woman veiled, and men hooded, this is a very traditional Moroccan town. We’ll continue driving towards Ouarzazate, via alnif,Tazarine,Nkob and Agdiz; will enjoy the sightseeing of the fascinating Draa Valley which has hundreds of Berber Kasbahs; so as to continuing to Marrakech through the famous Tizi –in-Tichka pass over the High Atlas Mountains. 4 Days from Marrakech to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) Desert Night in desert Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi -n-Tichka – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley/Gorges

We will pick up you from your hotel/riad/ bus station the we will start our journey from Marrakech to Dades Gorges. Day 2: Dades Gorges – Tenghir – Todra Gorges – Tinjdad – Erfoud – Merzouga(Night in desert)

After the breakfast, we go from Dades gorges to the erg chebbi Sahara desert in Merzouga. Berber villages are scattered along the way, we’ll pass through Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet, and the we continue to Merzouga,after relaxing few minuts in Merzouga,we go to ride the camels who are waiting to take us on an adventure in the sand dunes. we will spend the night in an camp(Nomad berber tents) with drums music in the middle of the Sahara,this is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise,when we arrive at the camp we go to a high dunes to see the sunset , we will spend the night in nomad tents .

Day 3: Camel Trekking back to Merzouga – Berber Villages – Ouarzazate

After seeing the sunrise in desert we go back on the camels to Merzouga after the breakfast and take shower in Hotel then start our journey to Ouarzazate trough the Berber villages of the atlas mountains ( Tinjdad , tenghir todra gorges ,Boumalene-du-Dades )we arrive to Ouarzazate in evening/night

Day 4: Ouarzazate – Berber Villages and atlas Mountains – Back to Marrakech

Leaving Ouarzazate in the Morning ,we will visit UNESCO protected site of Ait Ben Haddou. A most impressive Kasbah and well-preserved fortress in Morocco. Many movies were filmed here such as the Gladiator. Leave Ait Ben Haddou and start heading towards the majestic Atlas Mountains. Continuing to the holy city of Er Rissani, a site where the Alauite Dynasty are buried in the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Sheriff. we will start exploring the area, visit the ruins of Ksar Abbar, a kasbah that dates from the 17th century. Rissani is surrounded by 360 ksars ( a fortified village with many towers ) and it has a big souk ( an open market) held three times a week. Day 4 : Merzouga Agdez Ouarzazate.
